The Benefits of Outdoor Fitness Camps

The summer is the perfect time to enroll your children in an outdoor fitness camp. They might love the idea (or prefer to lay around watching Youtube videos)!

At The Ninja’s Edge, our Ninja Camps involve obstacle courses, expect some seriously fun exercises involving climbing, running, jumping, crawling, swinging, and more! There are so many benefits to outdoor fitness camps, so let’s take a closer look.

1. Safe and sanitary

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many people are wary about visiting indoor gyms. Parents are concerned about allowing their children to attend indoor exercise classes, and these concerns are justified.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jonathan Van-Tam, has stated that COVID-19 spreads less easily outside due to the ‘ventilation factor.’ Van-Tam has asserted, ‘it is absolutely categorically clear that outdoor spaces with higher degrees of ventilation are less problematic environments for transmission than indoor spaces.’

One of the key benefits of outdoor fitness camps is that they are safer and more sanitary. At The Ninja’s Edge, we have adapted Ninja training activities to suit a post-covid environment. The vast majority of our fitness camp activities now take place outside.

2. Raise endorphin levels

The CDC reported ‘7.1% of children aged 3-17 years (approximately 4.4 million) in the US have diagnosed anxiety’. As an increasing number of children are beginning to experience mental health problems, we must build support strategies.

Many studies have shown that spending time outside raises our endorphin levels. No matter if you’re feeling anxious or feeling fine, there’s no better way to boost your mood than the great outdoors!

3. Experience the natural world

Plain and simple, outdoor fitness camps allow children to experience the natural world, which does wonders for their well being. In a world that’s overloaded with technology, there are many benefits to reconnecting with nature. Outdoor fitness camps can allow your kids to enjoy the outdoors, detox from tech, and learn new skills. Children need vitamin D to help them stay healthy, and what better way to get some than enjoying an outdoor fitness camp! Vitamin D helps our bodies absorb phosphorus and calcium and supports our immune system. Whether it’s a sunny or cloudy day our ninja obstacle courses are the perfect way to break a sweat!

5. Varied exercise

As you’ve probably noticed, kids tend to get bored of the same old routine. When they’re tired of their regular activities an outdoor fitness camp is a great way to shake things up! Most importantly, children really love outdoor fitness camps. Exercising outdoors allows kids to express their adventurous side (plus burn off all that energy they have).
